Kings of Leon succumb to pigeon poop, hope to come back to St. Louis eventually

kings-of-leon-getty-500.jpgA pigeon poop problem forced Kings of Leon to cancel their St. Louis, MO show three songs in Friday (July 23), reports KTLA. Apparently the rafters of the Verizon Amphitheater are filled with pigeons and said pigeons bombarded the band members as soon as they took the stage.

Kings bassist Jared Followill (pictured above, second from right) said there was already poop on his pedal and carpet when he took the stage and that he was hit multiple times during the first two songs.

"The last thing I was going to do was look up ... but if that was only a couple, we must have caught them right after a big Thanksgiving dinner," jokes Followill.

"We couldn't believe what [opening bands] The Postelles and The Stills looked like after their sets," Followill says. "We didn't want to cancel the show, so we went for it. We tried to play. It was ridiculous."

"We want to apologize to our fans in St. Louis and will come back as soon as we can," says Andy Mendelsohn of Vector Management.

wow, cant handle a little poop? they would have never made it at woodstock!

Wasn't there, but people are really pissed about this. You don't HAVE St. Louis fans anymore. Sorry guys!

Wow, "stl will be ok".. don't say that they don't have any STL fans anymore. Please, you get up on a stage and try to play a show in front of thousands of people while getting pooped on by a ton of birds. After you successfully complete a concert under those circumstances, then you say something. Until then, get over it. They still have fans.

I was one of those fans that paid over $100 for two tickets, waited in the horribly hot weather with my 8 year old son (attending his 1st concert). Yes the poop is definitely gross but what is the most upsetting is the band NEVER addressed STL. The announcers came on and that was it. Show over. A little explanation and apology would have made this a little less disappointing. If there is another KOL show in STL I will not be attending. I would prefer to spend my time and money elsewhere after last nights event.

Sounds like it was a "******" show... It was the venue's fault, NOT the band's!!!

Sounds like it was a pretty "poopy" show... It's the venues fault, NOT the bands !!!

I don't want to place blame. I just feel things could have been handled a little differently. They could have said something to all of us that waited in the extreme heat. Instead they walked off stage and that was it. A little respect toward all of us would have been nice.

anyway Loni, i wouldn't bring an 8-year-old to a KOL concert. i don't think it's a place for a little kid like that. can't you wait 'til he's at least 12 or 13?

Yea thats not the bands fault thats the venues fault for not controlling what happens at their venue.

Greatest. Band. EVER. I blame the venue. How hard is it to keep pigeons from roosting over the stage? Somebody got fired over this, for sure.
