Johnny Depp's Comic-Con teaser for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'
The "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" teaser trailer was shown at Comic-Con this weekend.
No action scenes. No lusty maidens. No special FX. Just Johnny Depp as a slightly rum-woozy Captain Jack Sparrow describing the rumored adventure that he's not going on: the search for the Fountain of Youth.
He warns that if he were going on such a journey, which he's not, it would entail dangers such as zombies, cut throats, mermaids and Penelope Cruz.
But, given enough Bloody Marys, he might change his mind. You? Are you as excited as we are about the next "Pirates"?

WOW - already promoting the movie..?? It's NOT gonna be in theatres till May 2011... Oh, well... He's cute, though - Captain Jack Rumwoozing Sparrow - it's a cute commercial. Am a bit - ok, quite a bit - surprised that there'll be a 4th Pirates, seeing as the 3rd one sorta bombed - or, at least, was pretty awful - and I am a Pirates' & Sparrow Fan - does that tell you something...?? Anyway - regardless of the 3rd yawning Pirates, I will, nevertheless see this 4th one, hoping they did a better job with it. The producers are so smart - they're counting on Fans like me to make the 4th one a decent money maker. Now, if they would do the same with a 4th Mummy movie... I'm game.
Re: Cat. Promoting a movie a year in advance is nothing unusual. Ever hear of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? Star Trek? Dark Knight? Also, this is the last San Diego ComicCon before release. Makes perfect sense to me. It'll be weird not seeing the familiar faces from the first trilogy like Orlando and Keira but maybe it's time to introduce some new faces.
Great news - I love all the pirate movies Johnny Depp makes! Capt. Jack Sparrow lives on! I hope he meets some of the crew members from the other movies along the way like Capt. Barbossa.
