Emmy Awards: Creative Arts producer Spike Jones Jr. is on Team Coco

Spike Jones Jr., the producer of the annual Emmy nominations broadcast as well as the Creative Emmy Awards (for 16 years), has some strong feelings about the way Conan O'Brien was treated by NBC. And apparently, so do a large number of TV academy members.

Spike and the other Emmy voters nominated Conan for his "Tonight Show" and ignored Jay Leno, who was also submitted for consideration for his version of "The Tonight Show."

"Conan was a huge surprise, a fabulous surprise. That was wonderful," Spike said at Thursday's (July 8) early morning nomination show.

Was he a big fan of Conan's "Tonight Show"?

"I watched it a lot and I just think, how can I say this. ... The man had a huge hit television show in New York. And they changed it. They brought it out here. Whatever it was ... what was done to him was, I think, very unfair and just not right."

Hey Spike, thanks for being a Zap2it fan and for the cool shout-out!
