Drew Barrymore: 'Puppies and daisies don't accomplish anything'

If it seems like Drew Barrymore has made a zillion movies in the last three years, it's because she's come darn close. "For three years straight, I've been burning the candle at both ends, and as of last December, I just didn't have anything left," she tells Elle for the mag's August cover story.
Barrymore is promoting her film, "Going the Distance," which she stars in with her currently on-again boyfriend, Justin Long. (Yes, the "I'm a Mac" guy from "Valentine's Day.")
Barrymore says the film appeals to her because it's a little different. "I like that it's not a traditional romantic comedy, with the story line of, 'Oh, I slept with this guy, but when I woke up, I found out he's the CEO of my company, and we're going to live happily ever after once we go through all these crazy perils. I talk s*** with my girlfriends. And it can get dirty."
Despite being in the middle of the promotion machine, Barrymore is now taking time to recharge. "I've been so aggressive about living life to the fullest and being plugged into everything, but now I've ripped the plug out of the wall and put it on the floor for a while. I'm thinking about the same things as when I was 15, about spirituality and who I am, who I want to be. It's cocoon, pupa, larva, and f***, I'm reborn!"
We're not quite sure what that means exactly, but we're nodding and smiling just fine.
Barrymore insists that the media has the wrong idea of her - she's more driven and ambitious than people believe. "I make movies. I have a passion. Puppies and daisies don't accomplish anything. That's not me at all."

In all seriousness, one of the most fun things about Drew is her wacky way of communicating. "Going the Distance" hits theaters on August 27. We're kind of psyched to see the Mac guy play the lead in a rom-com, to be honest.

Yeah I was pretty sure she still does drugs, her eyes always look funny and her slurred speach and druel coming out of her mouth... She uses about 3 grams a day from my understanding but ole Barack says he never uses it...He says he hooked on fried chicken and watermelon...

Why do all the Zap2It "writers" think they need to add stuff like "We're not quite sure what that means exactly, but we're nodding and smiling just fine" to an article??? It doesn't take a genius to realize what Drew is talking about. I'd like to apologize for her...sorry she doesn't talk just like everyone else. If only she was like other people we'd like her more.
