Did 'The View's' Elisabeth Hasselbeck insult lesbians? You decide.

GoogleIn a discussion on Tuesday's (July 27) episode of "The View" about why older women who have led lives of heterosexuality are suddenly turning to homosexual partnerships, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has an interesting point to make.
She says that it's because older men are going for younger women, leaving the older women with no men their own age available. Joy Behar argues that you don't just suddenly wake up one day and decide you're a lesbian. Hasselbeck's rebuttal is that when you get older, sometimes it's more about companionship than something sexual.
Other sites have characterized this as Hasselbeck insulting lesbians by saying they are lesbians because they can't get a man. We don't think that's exactly what she's saying. Her point about wanting companionship because all the men your own age and of similar life experiences are turning to younger women is a valid one.

I love Elisabeth and she is the ONLY reason I still watch the View. She is the only one on the panel with any sense at all. Joy needs to go. She has nothing intelligent to say and loves to cry "racism" about everything. I think Elisabeth was correct in what she said!

I think Elisabeth has been pissing people off with her ignorant remarks long enough. Here is just another one of her views that will make others not watch The View! I stopped watching after her comment about Erin Andrews! I love Whoopi and Sherri,Joy and Barbara but she ruins it everytime for me! Her views always seem to differ from mine and if I wanted to just get upset by her comments! I am a heterosexual woman that is married and I think her comment today was just over the top! Grow up! People do not just become Gay or Lesbian they weren't allowed to be true to themselves and expose their identity as younger individuals! She should either keep her mouth shut or educate herself! She is always making error in history etc..She needs to shut up!

Elizabeth isn't an idiot because she is a conservative. Elizabeth, like Joy and Sherry and Whoopie, is an idiot because she is extremely uninformed.
Whoever wrote this article is an asshat. Hasselbeck soundbites always seem like quotes from "Kids say the darnedest things". She actually really does seem to have the logic of a toddler. I don't think what she said was all that insulting.. just plain stupid and further proves that her world is very tiny.
I can't even imagine anyone watching "The View." Ever. But I understand what Hasselbeck is saying, and I do know women who did the married/kids thing and later, because of betrayal by a man, turned to women. I'm also the proud of mother of a lovely lesbian who's been out since she was 16. Oh, and she's also a Republican. Stop stereotyping.
