Chelsea Clinton wedding gown battle: Oscar de la Renta vs. Vera Wang

Will Chelsea Clinton wear Vera Wang or Oscar de la Renta when she walks down the aisle to marry Marc Mezvinsky on July 31?

The suspense is killing us!  It's long been rumored that Chelsea would wear a Wang gown at her wedding. But a New York Times reporter revealed earlier this month that the former first daughter is doing a de la Renta gown.

Hold your horses! WWD's Wednesday (July 28) cover features Chelsea, walking gingerly due to her broken heel and looking like a mushroom in a  large floppy hat, outside Vera Wang's New York showroom. She reportedly met her mom, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was already there.

Wang is allegedly (hey, this is top-secret stuff!) doing the bridesmaids' dresses and flower girls' dresses as well as Chelsea's wedding dress. And supposedly Hillary and Chelsea have met with Wang several times.

Vera Wang has also dressed Karena Gore, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman and Mariah Carey.

But -- perhaps as a diversionary tactic -- Hillary was also spotted at de la Renta's showroom later that same day. And there are conflicting reports about Chelsea being with her mom at the time. The Dish Rag thinks its highly probable that Hillary is wearing Oscar and Chelsea's gonna be in Vera.
