'Glee' newbie Charice Pempengco's Botox: Will it help her beat Lea Michele?
There's nothing unusual about freshening up your face before a big debut in Hollywood. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons are booked solid with celebs wanting freshen ups before the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the Oscars and any big movie or TV premieres. So pop star Charice Pempengco's recent admission about getting Botox and a face tightening treatment (Thermage) for her big debut on "Glee" isn't a shocker. The shock is that she's 18 and those particular treatments are reserved for women 20-30 years older. This is almost as sad as Heidi Montag's barrage of plastic surgeries -- face, eye and brow lift (and her DDD implants) -- done all at once when she was only 23.
The Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox injections were intended to make her "naturally round face" more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo tells ABS-CBN television.
Charice explains that her face work was part of her prep for her debut on the hit show's second season. She starts filming in about two weeks and will play a foreign exchange student with a killer set of pipes who becomes Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry's arch nemesis/rival in the Glee Club. Lea, by the way, is 23.
"All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure," Charice said.
She auditioned for "Glee" in mid-June in Los Angeles. Charice first appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" at age 15 and later went on Oprah Winfrey's TV show a few times.

I'll answer that question: No, she will not "beat Lea Michele" because that's not the issue; she's a temporary guest star. Plus Lea is the Emmy and Golden-Globe nominated lead actress in the show. She doesn't have anything to worry about. What I worry about is these very young girls thinking they have to alter their appearance so drastically to succeed. It's tragic.
Our society is rapidly degenerating.
Why are you assuming it was to "beat" Lea Michele? Did Charice say that? If so I hope her people help her with her self esteem issue. The press needs to stop trying to pit Lea and Charice against each other. Singing is subjective some people might like one better than the other no big deal. But don't tyro to make this a rivalry between the two very real young performers. It is between the two characters keep it that way.
Charice is just 18 and does not to be dressed up and put up against a 23 year old woman. Sure both young but let Charice be a teen a little longer. In the end Rachel Berry will still be around, the rival will be short term. so lets just have fun watching Rachel Berry deal.

Firstly, Charice and Lea Michele belong to 2 different music genres, hence, invalid comparison.
Secondly, why would 2 singers pit each other against looks?
why are people talking as if Charice committed some despicable crime? If she did then 90% of hollywood did too, shall we crucify them all? i'd like to get some botox treatment too if i can afford it dang! maybe it will cure my migraines -botox supposed to do that too you know.
