Barack Obama on 'The View': Presidential or promotional?
President of the United States, Barack Obama, appeared on "The View" Thursday (July 29). One of the hot button questions? Is he going to Chelsea Clinton's wedding. Seriously.
Obama cleared up the controversy about his rumored attendence, explaining that there's not enough room for two presidents with entourages of secret service men. And he wasn't invited because the Clintons wanted the wedding to be all about Chelsea.
Whew. Glad that's cleared up. So the big question is why he came on the morning coffee clatch show? He explained that his wife Michelle Obama watches the show. But some critics wonder if its a good idea for Obama to appear on such a lightweight daytime TV show.
Apparently, even Rosie O'Donnell doesn't think a sitting president should do fluffy daytime TV.
But Obama has also done Ellen DeGeneres's show, appeared on "Letterman" and the "Tonight Show" and he's even talked about where LeBron James should play basketball. Not to mention that promo for George Lopez, perhaps courting the Latino vote? He's even been in People, fer crying out loud.
What do you think? Should he stoop to "View" or is it a smart populist idea?

I think he should have better taste but I think it's neat that he's out there and we can actually hear him speak as a man.
And whether Rosey likes it or not is hardly the judgement I trust to make up my mind to watch.
Isn't there anything more important for him to do than to be on TV AGAIN? isn't there a war on? a mess of oil along the shore in Florida? the highest joblessness rate in our life time? a lot of people about to lose their homes? the economy in the toilet? shouldn't he at least be on one of his four vacations the taxpayers are paying for this month? Oh, and thanks for supporting Florida by taking one of your vacations in Maine - about as far as he could get away from FL - wouldn't it of been nice for him to vacation along the Gulf coast at least on one of his 4 vacations in 30 days? When he heard about trouble on the Gulf he must of thought they meant 'golf' - same man who said he had been campaigning in 57 states.
He can go on any show he wants - he is a human afterall and just because he is president, doesn't make him super superior!
What amazes me is how Barbara found a way to shift the attention and celebrate a 'grand' entrance to her own freakin' show.
It's like it wasn't historic enough to have the president visiting.
I wonder what she'll do (besides showing her scar - as she said) when it's her actual first day of work to top that. A shower of ballons, confetti, and maybe the Rocketts?
Be it deserved (for her decades of news experience) or not, it never ceases to astound me how everybody practically kneels at the gargantuan altar of this woman's ego.
When she finally meets her maker, they're gonna need two coffins.
