'Bachelorette' Jillian Harris, Ed Swiderski end engagement -- and then there were two

ed-swiderski-jillian-harris-getty.jpgThe "Bachelor"/"Bachelorette" franchise has really taken it on the chin the last two weeks, couple-wise. First there is the gift that keeps on giving the creature that won't die in the form of the Jake-Vienna break-up that has been everywhere since early last week.

But now US Weekly is reporting that Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski, the couple from the fifth season of "The Bachelorette," have called off their engagement -- though it doesn't sound like they are necessarily done for good.

"I love him and I'm really sad, but I have to look out for me," says Harris.

"We're both kind of resetting," adds Swiderski. "Jillian isn't happy and I'm definitely sad about the whole thing, but we've got to work through some things on our own if we decide to move forward."

Perhaps they are just taking some time and might reconcile? Who knows. All we do know is that the "Bachelorette" has one less couple to "check up on" during its "Men Tell All" or "After the Final Rose" extravaganza. Jason and Molly Mesnick (nee Malaney) and Trista and Ryan Sutter are still going strong, as far as anybody knows.

Though there are rumors circulating that Ali does in fact get engaged during the finale of her "Bachelorette" season and that she is currently planning an early 2011 wedding with the lucky fella. Might the tally be back up to three by the new year?

The Bachelor program does not work and should be banned from television for the mental anguis it brings on...I would suggest a lawsuit against ABC

I knew this would happen sooner or later. She should've went with Reid. Or nobody!

I'm not surprised. The show is a joke. I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would expect to find the person they wish to spend the rest of the life with. Seriously?

TG...I never followed the show. Poor concept for a show.

THE SHOW IS FAKE PEOPLE. MOST ARE STRUGGLING ACTORS/ACTRESSES IN HOLLYWOOD WHO ARE DOING REALITY FOR A PAYCHECK AND HOPING THE EXPOSURE GETS THEM SOME REAL SCRIPTED WORK.

To the author of this posting..get it through your thick skull that Ali chose nobody and is NOT engaged to either guy that was in the final two, no matter how much spin you keep putting on this fable. This show is a fraud and scam and ABC has idiots like you believing there is hope for this concept to work.

As for this Ed and Jillian couple, just goes to prove this show never did and never will work UNLESS ABC pays them a million dollars to get hitched.

They should take all these bachalorettes and open up a bunny ranch...
