Report: Warren Beatty's daughter Kathlyn Beatty wants a sex change
First Cher's daughter Chastity (now Chaz) Bono went through a very public sex change. Now there are reports that Annette Bening and Warren Beatty's daughter -- Kathlyn Beatty-- is also planning a sex change operation to become a male.
The Dish Rag's industry sources say this no surprise. "This has been buzzed about in Hollywood for the last two years," says a source friendly with the family. "It's absolutely true and it was only a matter of time before someone reported it."
And now the National Enquirer has done just that. According to the publication, Kathlyn is currently attending college as a young man, Stephen Ira, and very much wants to undergo a transition from female to male.
'Warren Beatty is beside himself over the situation with his daughter Kathlyn,' a source tells the Enquirer. "He and Annette have tried to deal with this over the years when their daughter was younger, but she's determined to go ahead with the transgender operation, just like Chastity [Bono]."
Beatty and Bening have been married since 1992 and have four children together, Kathlyn, 18, Benjamin, 16, Isabel, 13 and Ella, 10.
This has got to very difficult for any parent, but especially so when the child is so young.
There has been no comment from the family.
We wish everyone the best and hope that the family's love and support will help Kathlyn cope with this very personal, private and emotional issue.

I would like to wish Stephen a happy future. To make such a decision must be hard. I applaud his parents for bringing up their child so they have the guts to make their own decisions and the ability to express their true personality.
I am a transwoman myself and I can't imagine the guts it took him to come out in a very public way and declare himself in the fishbowl that is Hollywood. I guess Chaz Bono blazed a trail for more to follow. I wonder who else will be coming out soon going the other direction Male to Female? The population statistics would bear that there are certainly a lot more out there. I think what holds more Male To Female back about declaring themselves is that men tend to have a very violent reaction in many cases when they find out. Hate crime is a very real danger in our community.
The transphobia in this article is sickening.

She's not too young, the younger you transition the better the results, but also, many transgender people have known for as long as they can remember.
Just as you knew you were a girl (or boy) since birth, so have many of them. Besides, there are LOTS of hoops to jump through before they let you do anything permanent.
And your hormone argument is flawed. Yes, they can lead to issue, however they are deemed the lesser of two evils (not to mention closely monitored). Saying they could possibly cause cancer in 50 years is better than having the person commit suicide in 3.
