'Ugly Betty' America Ferrera is pretty engaged!

ugly-betty-america-ferrera-gets-engaged.jpgOur favorite TV ugly duckling has definitely shown her iconic role as Betty Suarez on "Ugly Betty" was just that - TV.

America Ferrera hit the red carpet for the opening film at the Edinburgh Film Festival in Scotland looking every bit the Hollywood starlet in a black dress designed by Stacey Bendet for alice + olivia.

But that's not where the surprises end. As Just Jared reports, 26-year-old Ferrera flashed an engagement ring from longtime beau, 29-year-old filmmaker Ryan Piers Williams, whom she met years ago when he cast her in a USC film.

"I know she's so thrilled, happy, excited and ready," Ana Ortiz, who played Betty's older sister, Hilda, on the ABC show, told Latina magazine. "Ryan is one of the most amazing men I've ever known and they have a really wonderful partnership."

America broke the news to Ana after they had just spent two days together. She got a phone call from her former costar and friend asking her to call her back.

"I called her back and I was like, 'What is sooo important?'" says Ana. "'What else can you possibly have to say?' [Laughs]. Then she told me the news and I was screaming on the street in Manhattan like a lunatic! People must've thought I was losing my mind."

Ana says Ryan picked the ring out himself without anyone's help. Now that's quite a catch! As for the wedding, she has an idea what the couple is planning.

"Knowing them, they're going to keep it small," guesses Ana. "I was like,'I better be invited!'"

America, an Emmy winning actress for "Ugly Betty," has kept busy with the films, "The Dry Land" and "Our Family Wedding." She also did the voice for Astrid in the Dreamworks animated film, "How To Train Your Dragon." Plus, she's not shy about being behind a big screen version of "Ugly Betty."

Congrats, Ryan! Way to put a ring on it!
