Sean Hayes, Kristen Chenoweth make out. Take that, Newsweek!

The 2010 Tony Awards host Sean Hayes and Kristen Chenoweth indulged in some major groping and tongue wrestling during Sunday's (June 13) show.

Hayes even gave his "Promises, Promises" co-star a frisky "Mad Men" style pat on the rear.

Was all this done to dismiss the thesis of the recent Newsweek article that used Hayes as a prime example of why gay actors can't play a believable horny heterosexual lead?

Oh, yeah. Big time.

For her part, Kristen had written a vehement response to Newsweek. So did many others, including GLAAD, who asked for an apology, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy, who called for a boycott and "West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin who took a different tack.

As Sean watched Kristen wiggle-walk offstage, he told the audience, "I know what you're thinking - she's too short for me."

Ladies and gentlemen, we have the new Neil Patrick Harris.

Sean Hayes was brilliant as a host! He kept things moving along, is freaking talented and has impeccable comedic timing.

Liked him more than NPH tbh. He has that self-deprecating quality which made the show more inviting than NPH. Maybe they can team up for the Oscars next year?
