TLC's 'Extreme Poodles': 'Toddlers & Tiaras,' but cuter
"Toddlers & Tiaras" is one of our favorite guilty pleasures. We love the pageant moms, who are way past their pageant prime, and behaving as if pageants are truly about the kids. We can't get enough of the crazy hair pieces that hang on the edge of chairs waiting to be pinned on to some screaming girl's head. And, of course, we love following the families to these strange shacks on the side of the road where the kids gets spray-tanned by their aunt.
But, we think TLC has come up with something that may be even better than our No. 1 guilty pleasure: A special called "Extreme Poodles," a look into the world of "creative grooming." We just can't watch (but we will)! If there is anything more helpless than small children, it's fluffy poodles. TLC, you've outdone yourself!
"Extreme Poodles" premieres Sunday, June 13 at 9 p.m. on TLC.

Does anyone else remember when TLC stood for "The LEARNING Channel" and they showed informative programs where you might have actually learned something? Like the majority of the programming over the past years, the program above seems like yet another "car crash" show where TLC wants to watch because the content is so unbelievable (and in the case of some of the the poor dog, possibly borderline animal abuse).
Extreme Poodles on TLC
There seems to some mixed reactions and negativity. But there is nothing negative about that show. The groomers love their dogs as their children and would never do anything to hurt them. The dogs love the attention and you could plainly see how much those dogs love their owners. The one groomer was willing to drop out if he dog wasn’t happy but ended up winning 3rd place. The dyes are not toxic vegetable dyes, nothing like humans use at all. It does not hurt them at all. People are ignorant and always have to be negative. But the people who don’t like this show either don’t have dogs or are one of those people who don’t care about their dogs. It is more cruel to do get your dog groomed monthly and let their hair grow out, mat, the dog over heats. They can get bugs, fleas and all those terrible things. Grooming is like any other profession and people want to compete with their skills. Many of those groomers are vegetarian and animal rights. It’s the old rule, if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all. Especially if you don’t know what your talking about. It is a great show and they are doing great things!
What is wrong with TLC these days? Really, do you need to glamorize how sick these people really are and the cruelty they cause to these animals just to sell ratings? I am sure these dogs really love this negative attention they receive so that their owners can win a ribbon. As for myself, I no longer will watch your programming as it is getting worse and worse with every new show you produce. I thought TLC stood for "the learning channel" and not "tastless lurid crap".
i agree TLC has just gone to crap fer sure....
Why anyone would even consider dressing up a toddler and putting makeup on them is beyond me. It in fact infuriates me!! In my opinion they are getting them off to a wrong start real quick! Why would you want your child to look like a hooker? I hate to use that word...but I call it how I see it. Sorry if the Mom missed out on her lifelong dreams. Please don't make your child grow up trashy.
One ugly mother a dyed blonde had an adopted daughter from a foreign country and if she was not successful she was going to take away her favourite toy. The child did not want to go in the pagent but the idiot and the ugly grandmother who I think was drunk also took part on the stage. Was this woman not checked out before adopting a child she did not really want.
This is the first time I have ever seen this show and I was disgusted. That little girl Mackenzie was a bloody demon. I wanted to reach through the tv and beat her *** and her mothers to. Then there was that nasty disrespectful Little Danielle. What a narcisstic little *****. She couldn't even lose gracefully. What do these parents think life is going to be like for these children when they get older and find out that there is absolutely nothing special about them except their nasty little mouths and attitudes? Life is hard and these parents are only making it harder
for them by instilling these shallow values and selfish attitudes. Good luck with them in the years to come, I think we will be seeing them on some show where they talk to people who are incarcerated.
