'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' breaks out the mops

Disney's upcoming movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is kinda-sorta based on the segment of the animated classic "Fantasia" featuring Mickey Mouse and a bunch of strong-willed mops. Except instead of Mickey, the new movie has Jay Baruchel and Nicolas Cage.

One thing it still has, though? The mops. You can't really call your movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and leave out the mops.

The apprentice in this case is regular guy Dave Stutler (Baruchel), who's recruited to study under sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Cage). There's a bad guy (Alfred Molina), a girl (Teresa Palmer) and, of course, a big showdown between good and evil in which the hero has to prove himself.

And, of course, the mops. Just as Mickey couldn't, Dave can't really control the mops here, and it sets the stage for a very sloshy and awkward encounter with his love interest Becky (Palmer).

"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" hits theaters on July 14.
