'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' join 'Ladies Night Out' for charity
The women of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" donned "Moroccan-chic" for cast mate Dina Manzo's charity event, the fourth annual "Ladies Night Out," earlier this week.Approximately 1,200 women attended the event at the Manzo's family business, The Brownstone. The place was outfitted with a huge tent, belly dancers, Moroccan dancers and henna stations. With all those women in one place, we imagine there was definitely some fashionable strutting.
"Some of them get really, really decked out and get really into costume," Dina, who wore a Diane von Furstenburg tunic dress, tells Zap2it.
Held by Project Ladybug, a nonprofit organization Dina founded, the event's proceeds benefit patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Paterson, NJ. Dina was inspired to start the program while she was going through her mail in what she calls "bill-paying mode."
"I open this envelope and I pulled out a picture and I said, 'wow, when did they take this picture of Lexi?'" Dina recalls. "My sister had taken a great picture of Lexi when she was a baby and I turned it over and it was a mailing from St. Jude. It was a child who had a rare form of leukemia and she looked just like my daughter when she was a baby. So, my heart just sunk. It was like there but for the grace of God that could have been my baby."
You may have also noticed Dina and the other New Jersey Housewives sporting red extensions in their hair. That's part of Project Ladybug's Lucky Locks program. For more information, check out luckylocks.org.
