Sarah Palin under fire (again) for travel perks, speaking fees
Sarah Palin -- who got flack for $75,000 worth of free designer clothes and tons of travel perks during her stint as Alaska's governor and as John McCain's running mate during the 2008 presidential election -- is at it again.Apparently, she's not the gift that keeps on giving. She's the gift that keeps on taking. Her headline address Friday (June 25) night at the 50th anniversary celebration at California State University-Stanislaus has elicited criticism for how much her appearance cost.
School officials have not openly revealed her speaking fee, which is floating around $110,000. But a few details -- first-class airfare for two and deluxe hotel accommodations -- were discovered by some students who literally fished out her contract from the campus garbage.
Well, you can imagine Palin's outrage. "Students who spent their valuable, precious time diving through Dumpsters before this event in order to silence someone ... what a wasted resource," Palin remarked to the audience in campus cafeteria, which was festooned and redecorated for her grand appearance.
"A suggestion for those Dumpster divers: Instead of trying to tell people to sit down and shut up ... spend some time telling people like our president to finally stand up," she said.
Despite her protests, California Attorney General (and Democratic nominee for governor) Jerry Brown is now investigating the university's expenditures, which may have violated public disclosure laws.
Palin's presence at Friday's sold-out dinner brought in more than $200,000, making it the most successful fundraiser in the university's history.
But just how much was she paid? That's the big question. Maybe they broke even. Maybe they didn't have to cough up for crib notes. Those have to be extra.

It's amazing how much attention she still gets from the pundits, how much public money have the Obama's wasted throwing partys at the White House, or getting to ride on Air Force 1 to fund raisers, or play golf around the country?
For slow learners. She didn’t buy, want, or keep the clothes that were legitimately purchased by the campaign. The speakers bureau sets the requirements for its clients. Cloistered, dumpster diving, self-absorbed, self-entitled, sophomoric twits may think their childish opinions are relevant…but the rest of the free world supports the Gov. She is not under fire, she is on fire. You really can see Russia from Alaska.

It makes me warm all over to see you guys defending and supporting her. It's so unfair to keep pounding on her. She's such a soft target for both the biased media and even talk-hosts like Lettermen, Leno, and Kimmel. Not to mention Tina Fey on SNL. How petty is that..?? And all she has done to date is earning her keep and being patriotic in every sense of the word. Can these people not find anyone else to pick on..?? Pathetic, to say the least.
