Rob Lowe is writing his memoirs? This should be good
Can Rob Lowe write as well as he acts? We'll soon find out.The actor is writing a memoir entitled "Stories I Only Tell My Friends," which will be published by Henry Holt and Co. in May 2011, according to the Washington Post.
The insanely handsome actor will reportedly relate his experiences as an actor and father. Holt prez Stephen Rubin describes the book as "a mid-career meditation on his four decades as an actor."
Lowe became a teen heartthrob in 1983's "The Outsiders" and has appeared in around 30 films and many successful TV shows including "The West Wing," "Brothers and Sisters" and "Parks and Recreation."
But before you go thinking this book is gonna be a real snore, remember that Lowe's personal life has not exactly been scandal free.
Lowe was a member of the original '80s Brat Pack, along with Judd Nelson, Mare Winningham, Anthony Michael Hall, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez and Andrew McCarthy. Remember Rob in "St. Elmo's Fire"? He won a coveted Worst Supporting Razzie for that role, an honor he never reprised.
In 1988, a sex tape of Lowe with two young girls -- which seems tame by modern sex tape standards -- was released. One of the girls was underage and the videotaping took place in his hotel room during the Democratic National Convention.
Then there were the nanny lawsuits. In 2008 he sued three nannies for various things (breach of contract, emotional distress, etc) and they also sued him for various things (sexual harassment, etc).
All the suits were eventually dismissed. But we can't wait to find out the real skinny from Rob about the sex tapes and the nasty nannies.

Weren't he and Melissa Gilbert an item in the 80s? I think it got really ugly between the two of them as well... I trust that stuff will make the book too. I'd rather have the ClifNotes.
Yes, there was a big thing between Rob and Melissa, but I believe they patched up all the nastiness and are both happily married (to other people!)
Geez, I loved Lowe in "Thank You for Smoking"! I enjoy his work wherever I see him. Just watched St. Elmo (1st time). Yeah, the flick's a bit dated, but... you can see that Lowe really did have it.
he's actually a lot better actor than you'd expect.
