'Real Housewives of NY': Kelly Bensimon's anti-bullying P.S.A.

Kelly is taking a very real and SERIOUS issue, and twisting it for her own media gain. This is the pathetic attempt of a public figure to do elaborate spin control. As an educator, I urge you to shun people like Kelly Bensimon – people who would take REAL issues that affect children and use these issues to hide behind. Kelly was NEVER systematically bullied, and for her to keep using that term makes her deplorable. In her mind, she’s the victim. She’s not, she’s just a crazy lady who can’t own the fact that she acted foolishly on national television. Own what you do, Kelly! It’s called being a grown up. Grown ups are not systematically bullied because we have the means to extract ourselves from unpleasant situations — the fact that you put yourself into this and continue to keep you and your family in this world of reality television speaks volumes about your level of maturity. Just pathetic!

sonja let the cat out of the bag whenever she noticed the strong, strange smell that was coming from kellys’ room on the yacht. at first i thought sonja was being rude talking about someone elses yacht smelling bad, but she was smelling kelly.

Kelly was not bullied. People with paranoid personality disorder often use a coping mechanism termed projection. Projection allows her to perceive her own feelings as coming from outside of herself, it is easier for Kelly to feel bullied than acknowledge her disease.

Projection occurs when the ego perceives dysfunction from ‘somewhere’ and then seeks to locate that somewhere. The super ego warns of punishment if that somewhere is internal, so the ego places it in a more acceptable external place – often in convenient other people.

Projection turns neurotic or moral anxiety into reality anxiety, which is easier to deal with. Projection also helps justify unacceptable behavior, for example where a person claims that they are sticking up for themselves amongst a group of aggressive other people, like Kelly is doing.

It's rather disgusting and narcissistic to exploit a serious issue to avoid taking responsibility for your own actions and words. Bravo can edit out - they can't edit in. She said that stuff, she owns it. To argue that she was bullied when the evidence is clear she was bullying the others is ridiculous. Whether it's mental illness or drug use (which I suspect from the personality changes after he trips for candy) Kelly needs help and anyone who abets her delusion by allowing her to pretend that thisis about bullying is not helping her.
