Queen Latifah on Chris Brown: 'He needs to be forgiven. Enough already'
Queen Latifah is still wiped out from her hosting duties Sunday night for the 10th Annual BET Awards. But she roused to chat with The Dish Rag exclusively about Chris Brown's stunning comeback on the show."I thought Chris Brown's performance was amazing, just amazing," she raves. "Not only was it a knockout performance, but his heartfelt emotion ... you can't plan that, you can't write that, it's just truth."
She also thinks that it's time to forgive Brown and move on. "The guy is a young guy and he made a big mistake and he needs to bounce back from that. And he needs an opportunity for a second chance," she says. "We can't condemn that kid. He's a kid and he needs to correct the mistake for the future, not live in the past."
To put it bluntly, she says: "He needs to be forgiven. Enough already. We can't keep beating him up. She's [Rihanna] going to grow and he's going to grow and we have to allow them both to do that."
The Queen, who has a new book out entitled "Put on Your Crown," to help inspire young women, also took part in a COVERGIRL "Ignite Your Persona" contest to find five up and coming female rap and R&B artists.
The winners (Naakira, Gina, Shea, Amber and Christel) were sent down to Miami for a COVERGIRL photo shoot, were photographed for a 3-page spread in People. They also had the chance to re-record Queen's classic song, "Unity," with her producers Cool and Dre. The winners "Unity" video (check them on the Cover Girl website here) will premiere on BET.com
"It's so important to have more female voices in hip-hop," she explains. "I do everything I can to help females become rappers and express themselves. Hip-hop was the launch for me to do everything i am now able to do and I want to make that happen for other girls as well"
You might call Queen the Godmother of Hip-Hop. She laughs at the title but admits, "I came on before so many young female artists. Li'l Kim, I had her back. Foxy Brown, Eve, Missy [Elliot]. So it's really important for me to make sure the new girls get a little support."
How much do we love this woman?

Congratulations, I guess. If you can sing, you can go ahead and beat women and be forgiven for it.
Only Rihanna can forgive him. But I'll always think he's a douche bag.
Chris you are very talented. Keep you head up. Forget the haters.
I smells a rat...this man is pitiful example of someone trying to redeem themselves crying on stage for a pedifile, drug addicted freak who bleached his and skin and destroyed his entire face and identity with plastic surgery because he could not look himself in the mirror for all the sins he had done to himself and little children. This world of sickos loving jackos...those who follow this person are no better than Micheal is...He is a false idol and all of you are idiots for worshiping him...get a life and quit trying to bring back the dead....
"a knockout performance"
I don't think using the word "knockout" is a good idea when talking about Chris Brown.
@ everybody who had sumthin bad 2 say about chris and michael especially DAT STINKS... i WISH I KNEW WHO YOU WERE SERIOUSLY BECAUSE U HAVE 2 BE THE MOST IGNORANT DUMB MINDED PERSON I HAVE EVER KNOWN.....please just please let me know who u r....
Ive forgiven him mostly because he has done things to redeem him since then. Everybody makes mistakes nobody is perfect.
The only reason Chris Brown is not forgiven is because of it was Rihanna...Two very public figures... The public eye and opinion is being to harsh. He is a very young man who needs not to be judged so harshly for something that was done in private and made very public.
Take a close look in the MIRROR... ask "what if I was never forgiven..."
Let this young man be ... he to must learn... teach with kindness ... Let him use this lesson to better the next ... give him but his lively hood back. His talent is deserving of second chance... Have a heart...
You know that they don't post what you right...
Dat Queen Lareefer always has someones back the problem with that is it gives her a bad name...she needs to stay away from dat freak Chris Brown, he's dirty...
