Princess Victoria of Sweden, 32, married 36-year-old The couple met in 2002. Westling is a gym owner who now goes by the title of Prince Daniel, Duke of Vastergotland. Victoria was given away by her father and mother, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, who were married exactly 34 years ago to the day, making this Sweden's first royal wedding since 1976.
Sweden's monarchy has no political power, but the king or queen
represents the nation and greets foreign dignitaries. Victoria is next
in line to succeed her father, so eventually she and Prince Daniel will
be Queen and King of Sweden.
It's certainly funny but we gotta say -- marrying your personal trainer beats the hell out of the old days when people married their cousins.

Stupid comments from the media. What if he is a commononer. Look at Prince Charles and his wife. Or Prince William and his girl friend. Congratulations to the couple for many years to come.
We need to get rids of these monarchies. What a waste of time. How are they different than Paris Hilton and the Kardashians? Famous for no real reason. It's insane. If they have no power, than why keep them around.
To "lame": Western monarchies are institutions steeped in tradition that are a great source of national pride, not to mention a fair bit of revenue. You might as well ask, why bother renovating the Statue of Liberty? Why should we fly the national flag?
Trust me Paris Hilton and the kardashians trash these sweeds are royalty....
KING Daniel..?? I thought the spouse of a Queen can NOT be called King, just the Queen's consort, probably titled Prince. Or is that only for England & Holland.. and Sweden is different..?? Good for her, that she can follow her heart.
Shanae - That's right, Prince Daniel can never become king, since that would suggest that he would have the highest status. And of course he doesn't, Victoria does.
Daniel will never become King. He will be the Prince Consort.
