'Killers' star Ashton Kutcher pirates his own premiere
Ashton Kutcher did what would have landed you or me or anyone else in jail on Tuesday (June 1). He shot video and live-streamed the first 13 minutes of his new action-packed rom-com, "Killers," from his seat inside the star-studded premiere.
He had actually announced his evil social media marketing plan on, where else, his Twitter account: "June 1 I'm going live 2 the web & Pirating the 1st 10 min of Killers from the premiere."
His live stream was actually 13 minutes on Ustream, as part of Lionsgate's uber-hip marketing that makes use of Kutcher's massive Twitter fan base (we're talking 5 mlllion followers) .
Will it work? Will seeing the first 13 minutes of "Killers" make anyone want to pay to see the rest?Well, you do get to see a lovely part of old Nice, a village on the French Riviera, a helicopter blowing up, Ashton looking buff in a bathing suit, Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara bickering (they later literally steal the movie) and Katherine Heigl trying to act all sophisticated and euro-cool.
But the best part of the movie is the last half when ... well, we don't want to spoil it for you. Suffice to say there are some very funny moments back in the U.S.
And no, we don't know why Ashton was holding a sign that read "Real Men Don't Buy Girls" last night, but apparently it's a project that one of his Twitter followers is working on.
Maybe another live stream?

Now if he'd only pirate his own career, and make it walk the plank.

Actually, I want to see it but more for the supporting cast. I loved Tom Selleck and Catherine O'hara and they did steal the show. Looks like a fun movie.
The one person who watched that first 13 minutes of his film thanks Ashton for saving him $11.00. Sorry Ashton your just not an action film star.
