Justin Bieber not attending BET Awards because of tour commitments

Our favorite pint-size pop star, Justin Bieber, received a surprise nomination for Best New Artist at the 2010 BET Awards. However, Bieber will not be attending tonight's June 27 awards ceremony, hosted by Queen Latifah, at the Shrine Auditiorium in Los Angeles. Bieber isn't attending because he has a show planned in Milwaukee tonight. He tweeted, "Just wanted to say I would have been at the awards but this show was booked before the nominees came out, and I don't cancel shows. I would never cancel a show and let down the fans unless I had to...but I do wish i was there too, because I am honored to just be nominated."
When fans inquired as to why Bieber's team didn't leave the night open, Bieber had this to say: "Why did we not plan for the BET Awards?? Well be honest people, not many of u thought the white boy from Canada was gonna b nominated. But just goes to show that Music is COLOR BLIND!! It is the Universal Language and good music brings us all together...the way it should be."
Aww, Biebs. We're all warm and fuzzy inside.
Bieber may not be attending, but you should tune in to the BETs anyway - if only for the Michael Jackson tribute and Kanye's most high-profile appearance since his Taylor Swift flub at the VMAs.
