Jamey Johnson 'Macon' an impression at the 2010 CMT Music Awards

jamey-johnson-bamajam-2010.jpgPrior to Jamey Johnson's performance on Wednesday night at the CMT Music Awards, comedian David Spade told the audience that he was supposed to introduce Carrie Underwood but was given Johnson at the last minute.

"I didn't fly in a puddle-jumper from Little Rock to introduce the dude who looks like an extra on 'Ice Road Truckers,'" Spade joked.

True, Jamey isn't given to belting out "Cowboy Casanova" while scantily attired, but he did debut his song "Macon," one of 25 new songs that will be part of the two-disc release entitled "The Guitar Song" this September.

Speaking of truckers -- ice road or otherwise -- the Los Angeles Times got an early listen of " Macon" and called it "an atmospheric tale of a Georgia trucker on his way home."

How could it not be good? All he needs to make it better is a dog by his side and an open bottle of whiskey within reach.

Along with Johnson, Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes and John Mayer all performed new material as well.
