Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt: Who signed the lease on the Malibu home? Neither of them did...

The notorious TMZ detective team has dug up more suspicious activity surrounding the Heidi Montag/Spencer Pratt Splitgate scandal -- just one more clue that points to the whole thing being one big fat (poorly planned -- heck, or maybe not? We're still talking about it....) scripted publicity stunt.

It turns out that $5.5 million Malibu house where Malibu Barbie and her Skipper sidekick -- er Heidi and new BFF Jen Bunney -- claim they moved in to escape scary Spencer (nothing like a Ken doll) was signed two days before Heidi's rep confirmed the split.

Here's the eyebrow-raising catch: neither Heidi nor Jen's names were anywhere to be found on the lease -- and neither was Spencer's. Plus, the lease is reportedly only three months long with an option to re-new for six months or a year.

So the question is, who signed the lease? TMZ suggests a reality show producer with something to gain, perhaps? And what's with the lag time between when the lease was signed and when Heidi's rep announced the split? Whoever signed the lease must have known the supposed breakup was coming ...
