Gary Coleman, Shannon Price were divorced. Why'd she get to pull the plug?

Former "Diff'rent Strokes" child star Gary Coleman was put on life support following his fall last week. And his wife, Shannon Price, was the one who made the 911 call and the one who gave the doctors the go-ahead to disconnect him from all life support.

Which is fine except for one minor detail.

She wasn't legally married to Gary. Hasn't been since 2008.

According to Entertainment Tonight,  Gary was divorced at the time of his death. Their reporters located court docs that prove Gary and Shannon Price were legally divorced on Aug. 12, 2008.

Gary filed for divorce with sealed divorce documents filed in Utah that referred to "John Doe" and "Jane Doe." All court fees were paid for by Gary. Shannon did not receive any alimony.
 
This makes Shannon giving the hospital the thumbs up to take Gary off life support a bit dicey.  Did she have the authority to make the call? Did he have a living will which designated her as his executor for this decision?
