"Bethenny Getting Married?" isn't quite the mystery the title poses in its debut Thursday (June 10), considering wedding photos have been bouncing around ever since Bethenny FrankelJason Hoppy tied the knot with on March 28.Bethenny, though, is no stranger to illogical titles. She was neither married nor a housewife when she began on "The Real Housewives of New York City," so how does that work?
"They met me and I don't think they wanted a wife and a mom," she tells Zap2it of the Bravo producers. "They have four similar, why not have one who is the question mark character?"
As the only one of the six to turn her life as a chef and on-the-prowl single woman into a spin-off reality show, she ranks as the savviest. And she's clearly at ease on camera, no matter how personal it gets, witness the scene of her crying about her parents to a shrink.
In Thursday's opener, Bethenny goes ring shopping and hires an assistant. Though everyone on the show assumes the assistant is gay, he says he's straight.
"He's like Pat," she says referring to Julia Sweeney's gender ambiguous "Saturday Night Live" character. "You don't know."
Bethenny, whose daughter, Bryn, was born May 8, has a baby nurse and an assistant, but like all moms of newborns, is exhausted.
"You can take naps and you're so tired, you can't think about anything else," she says of sleep.
Still, Bethenny is doing precisely what she wanted. "I wanted to be an actress as a kid," she says. "I like being myself better."
