Bethenny Frankel: Post-pregnancy bathing suit pic doesn't send a 'bad message'
Bethenny Frankel is defending herself after posing in a red one-piece bathing suit for UsWeekly only three weeks after giving birth to her baby girl Bryn.
Critics claim that the picture sends an unrealistic message to "real" women who may go to extreme measures to lose their weight post-pregnancy as fast as she did. Of the 35 pounds Frankel packed on, she's already lost 29.
"You can't win for losing," Frankel tells the press while promoting her upcoming show "Bethenny Getting Married?" Thursday (June 3), "if sending the message that being healthy before, during and after your pregnancy is a bad message. I think it's good for a woman to know she can stay healthy during and after pregnancy.
"I was in the hospital for six days days, three of which there's the day you're in labor, you don't eat. Two after, you don't eat. When I came out, I'm 6-7 pounds less, most of it is baby stuff, like water and things.
Of course, the 39-year-old first-time mom is also a natural food chef
known for her best-selling books, "Naturally Thin" and "The Skinnygirl
Rules," both of which emphasize common sense, moderation, exercise and
even the occasional treat.Critics claim that the picture sends an unrealistic message to "real" women who may go to extreme measures to lose their weight post-pregnancy as fast as she did. Of the 35 pounds Frankel packed on, she's already lost 29.

"I didn't do anything drastic," she asserts. "I realized that walking and doing yoga and just being normal, it comes off. The people who have a major, major struggle, they probably go off the rails. They probably go to McDonald's and Taco Bell. I didn't do anything different. I do exactly what I do all the time. The whole entire time I was pregnant I kind of ate sensibly but with indulgence."
Frankel isn't shy about revealing what those indulgences are. Besides feeling more womanly, she admits that her second favorite thing about her pregnancy was "the red velvet cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory."
And her other favorite treat?
"You know I love margaritas. That was my greatest joy -- other than Bryn -- was to sip tequila. It's like crack.
"Bethenny Getting Married?" debuts on Bravo Thursday, June 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Check out what else Bethenny had to say about "Housewives" castmates Kelly and Jill and whether or not she'd return for fourth season.

There is a high rate of early scheduled c sections and underweight babies among stars - her baby was under 5 lbs and that is a preemie - they always say it was 'an emergency c section' but come on - this is not the norm and not a good message to pregnant women - a woman who is thinking of parading around in a bathing suit 3 weeks after her baby is born needs to get her priorities tuned up
I also wondered about if the baby was born so tiny because of Bethenny's eating habits. I hope the baby has no health problems because of it.
I also wondered if Bryn was born early because of Bethenny's bad eating habits. I hope the baby is healthy. Poor kid.
Whatever Jill stop posting as Sarah, LOSER.
If she wants to wear a bathing suit before, during and after pregnancy, who cares. There is way too much obsession with what is going on in someone else's home than what is taking place in your own. Everyone is different. Doctors promote healthy eating during pregnancy and recommend you consume just 300 calories more per day. If the pregnant woman decides to exceed the recommended caloric intake then guess what, she will gain weight that may be hard to lose. Let us not forget, Bethanney is breastfeeding which takes the pounds off really fast.
I'm sorry but I have read at least 3 article with interviews from this woman in the past 2 days. Her story keeps changing. After she started getting some heat for losing so munch weight so fast in our image obsessed world her story changed. Worldbabyreport.com has a good post that talks about what is normal eating after a c section and dieting when you're ****** feeding. Bethenny is definitely getting her 15 min....
If she REALLY wanted to send a good msg about how healthy she is already, why isn't she wearing a bikini, like she did ALL during her pregnancy, instead of a bathing suit that pulls in the stomach?
I read that her water broke and when that happens you cannot continue the pregnancy. She is a petite woman and her husband does not appear to be a large man thus a small baby, not underweight. I am a retired R.N. and do possess some medical knowledge and experience. I had an 8-10 1/2 and 8 -15 1/2 babies and my husband was 6-1 250lb. My mother begged my doctor for a c-section and I would have welcomed it rather than the long difficult labors. one child had a large head and the other had the cord around the neck and the shoulders got stuck. obtain some more info to backup your opinions
Dear Bethany and Jason, Today was my televised experience of your wedding and I can't be more excited for both of you. A born and bred New Yorker, now deflected to the beaches of NC, I am a religious participant with my girls from NY. You are Real and honest, and stay away from Jill. Poison is an understatement regarding her participation in all your lives. Your wedding was beautiful and well deserved. Loved seeing Alex and Mona. Show them all, Bethany!!!!!!
Truly an amazing "look" for a woman who had just given birth
