'American Idol': Kellie Pickler, Kyle Jacobs engaged

Kellie Pickler says June 15 used to be a tough day for her. Not so much now.

That's thanks to her now-fiance Kyle Jacobs. He asked the former "American Idol" finalist to marry him on that day, and she said yes.

June 15 was the birthday of Pickler's late grandmother, Faye, she tells People, and the day tended to be "sad and hard" for her to get through. When Jacobs proposed, though, "It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life. My whole world changed. We both feel like we got my grandmother's blessing."

Jacobs proposed on a beach in Florida at sunset after setting up a blanket and candles at the end of a seaside stroll. "Afterward, we just held each other and had the most beautiful prayer," he tells the magazine. "We had a little champagne and talked and laughed and cried."

Pickler, who came in sixth place on Season 5 of "Idol," and Jacobs met 2 1/2 years ago. They haven't set a wedding date yet.
