'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' director Bill Condon to fans: 'I'm stoked'

bill-condon-gi.jpgNewly hired "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" director Bill Condon is months away from calling "action" on the movie, but he's already made one smart move.

Condon, the director of "Dreamgirls," "Gods and Monsters" and "Kinsey," posted a note to "Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland" on the saga's Facebook page to introduce himself and tell them how excited he is to start work on the final chapter of the "Twilight" story.

"I'm stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making 'Breaking Dawn,'" he writes. "As you've probably heard, I've been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie [Meyer] and Team Summit -- who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right."

He also breaks down his preparation for the movie -- reading "Breaking Dawn" twice, repeated viewings of the first two "Twilight" movies and study of other assorted materials from the franchise. "A corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic," he jokes.

"I realize that this barely qualifies me for 'newborn' status in the universe you've been living inside for a few years now, but a guy's gotta start somewhere," Condon adds.

He also talks about how he's been "slightly obsessed" with vampires dating back to "Dark Shadows" and talks about the saga's "timeless" characters.

It's a classy, and savvy, move on Condon's part, and commenters on the note seem to be pretty welcoming to him (as well as very interested in seeing "Breaking Dawn" be split into two films). He also promises to answer as many questions as he can, starting with this: "PS Answer #1: No, there won't be any musical numbers."

If that were true, Melissa Rosenberg would've been fired as screenwriter after Twilight. Her dialogue is the WORST crap I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. She must have the IQ of a middle schooler. You can tell when watching Twilight and New Moon that the actors have a difficult time working with the crap that's been slung in their faces. I sympathize with them.

I totally agree. When I was watching Eclipse I was so mad. The scenes were so fast paced, it didn't even give you time to absorb the moment. Also it left out so many of the moments that made Eclipse one of my favorite books. She totally missed the struggle Bella was going through and left out SO many scenes that showed Edward's human side come through, because he is jealous. The scene when Bella decides to be with Edward was so powerful in the book and Melissa made it seem like an afterthought, as she did so many moments in the film. It is so sad to see books I love, come to life on the screen so badly....I am really upset about this one, because it was my favorite and I wish they could have at least made more of an effort to uphold what makes us love these books!

I agree, Eclipse the book was ten times better than the movie. There were alot of scenes in my opinion that could have added more to the movie but they were overlooked
