Taylor Swift donates $500,000 to Nashville flood relief
Award-winning country music star Taylor Swift is donating $500,000 to flood relief in Nashville.According to HuffPo, the gift was announced on the "Working 4 You: Flood Relief With Vince Gill & Friends," on Thursday (May 6), a telethon that featured Vince Gill, Naomi Judd, Alison Krauss, Darius Rucker, Phil Vassar, Keith Urban and former American Idol" Bo Bice and benefited the Red Cross, Salvation Army and the Second Harvest Food Bank.
"Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly," Swift tellsThe Associated Press. "Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis."
The deadly storms have killed 30 people in three states, 20 in Tennessee. Cleanup and repairs are expected to cost more than $1 billion.
On Sunday, May 16, country music cable network GAC will air a live telethon that will feature Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Rodney Atkins and many other soon-to-be-announced country music stars.
Be sure to watch! This is every bit as important as the Haiti telethons, people.
