'Shrek' spinoff for Antonio Banderas: Like a 'Sergio Leone '60s Western'

While the rest of the cast of the final "Shrek Forever After" film -- Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy -- is sad that their saga has come to an end, Antonio Banderas is excited about his new animated "Puss in Boots" spin-off.

His seductive swashbuckling Spanish feline will continue, but not in the same narrative. Banderas describes the new movie as a  "Sergio Leone '60s Western, a very different concept" from "Shrek." His Boots character was not in the first "Shrek," but showed up in second, third and fourth final films.

He also described the reaction of children when their parents drag them up to him and introduce him as his "Shrek" character. "They say, 'This is Puss in Boots!' The children always look their parents like they're crazy, 'That's not Puss in Boots, that's Zorro.'"

Asked by a reporter what he loves most, Banderas replied, "I love the fact that I've been married (to Melanie Griffin) for 14 years today."

The "Shrek Forever" Friday afternoon press conference at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills was moderated by Ryan Seacrest, who has a very brief cameo (like two lines) in the first few minutes of the film, playing Butter Pants' father.

"This is a giant leap from my cameo in 'Knocked Up,'" he admits. Eddie amused reporters with a donkey shadow puppet, Cameron talked about her favorite day riding on an elephant watching the sunset and "The Office" star Craig Robinson jokingly revealed that he would like to remake "The Lion King," explaining, "I would not let Mufasa die."
