'Sex and the City 3'? Kim Cattrall is down if it happens

"Sex and the City 2" is about to release in theaters, but talk has already turned to a possible third film.

Kim Catrall would definitely welcome reprising her role as the irrepressible Samantha Jones ... if writer/director Michael Patrick King deems it possible.

"I don't know if there will be a third," she tells MTV News. "I hope there will be. I think there's more stories to be told.

"Well, I think the only way it will continue is if Michael feels there's more to be said," she continues. "I think once we start repeating ourselves, it's time to say goodbye. Maybe that's in five years, maybe that's in 10. Who knows? I hope we can do it for as long as the audience is there and the characters are interesting and growing and changing."

We can see it now: Samantha in a walker, chasing after 40-year-old boy toys.

"Sex and the City 2" hits theaters on Thursday, May 27.
