'Sex and the City 2': Sarah Jessica Parker on Morocco and the casbah misconception

sarah-jess-parker-letterman.jpgSarah Jessica Parker stopped by "The Late Show" to talk "Sex and the City 2" with David Letterman as part of her promotional whirlwind for the movie's release. Though New York City has always been integral to the "Sex and the City" franchise, the girls filmed a significant part of the sequel in Morocco.

"We were in Morocco for almost two months," Parker tells Letterman. "We were in Marrakesh, which is a very sophisticated, bustling, exciting, completely wonderfully foreign place. It's a big city, I don't know relative to the island of Manhattan, although I should have looked that up."

Dave asks about a Casbah, and Parker drops some knowledge. "There is a casbah which is actually an area in which the textiles and the produce and the gold are sold outside the walls of the palace. But in what they call the Medina, which is the old city, there is this magical incredible labyrith-like place called the Souk. The casbah actually is a community. We've all been using the word casbah incorrectly for years, and I'm here to tell you it's a community. It's a family."

Parker, who is married to Ferris Bueller (er... Matthew Broderick) also chatted about her son, James Wilkie, inheriting his "diminutiveness" from Broderick's side of the family. "He's not quite tiny. That's on my husband's side, that's right," she says.

Digging herself even deeper, she says, "Well, Matthew is average." She quickly recovers, assuring the audience, "Not in personality! Let me clear this up, for the record. Not in personality, intellect, charisma, talent, genuine likeability... he's average in height as I understand it."

They also chatted about Cincinnati baseball for a while, but we zoned out as soon as we realized Joe Morgan isn't a new shoe designer.
