Sean Hayes on 'Dancing With the Stars': 'I don't understand that show!'

sean-hayes-kristin-chenoweth-gi.jpgStart counting "5-6-7-8" and most Broadway actors will fall into step for a dance number.

They understand grueling rehearsals, which go into making the shows they're in ...  and TV shows like "Dancing With the Stars."

So it only stands to reason that we'd ask the freshly-minted Tony Award nominees to share their take on the dance competition and whether they would give the ABC show a whirl.

The impressions might not be what you think. While "Enron's" Stephen Kunken hopes that Erin Andrews wins, legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp is "not familiar with the show."

Sean Hayes, nominated as best actor in a musical for "Promises, Promises," says he would never be on "DWTS."

"I don't understand that show!" Hayes tells Zap2it. "With 'So You Think You Can Dance' you tune in to watch people who can really dance."

Meanwhile, Kelsey Grammer ("La Cauge aux Folles") would "rather see my wife do it. She can actually dance."

Valerie Harper ("Looped"), who studied ballet at Carneige Hall as a teenager has more selfish reasons for not wanting to do it.

"I was a dancer so I don't know that I would want to be out there and be less than I was," Harper says. "When Gilles Marini was on it ... " she stops to collect herself and segues into an anecdote about Paul Newman, who had the same mesmerizing effect as Marini.

Not that we blame her. Marini has that affect on a lot of people.

OMG shut up, you're too gay for the show anyway

man and woman channel focuses on aspects of healthy living, health is an important condition for the composition of charm! Charm from healthy start!please visit: http://www.mannfemale.com

Mike-the best;
There are more gays on the show(s) than you can handle the knowing about.

I, too, don't understand the show. Here you have a twentysomething who has done twists, turns, jumps, stretching, transitional moves, and even dancing most of his life, and pit him against people who either have two left feet, or are much older; like say, an octogenarian.

Sean its simple. People watch to see a bunch of Hasbeen - Never Really Were "celebrities" get up on stage and look ridiculous. Think of it as a comedy. You tune in to see Kate Gosselin fall on her large *** or wait for Heather Mills leg to pop off. That's about the only entertainment value this POS has to offer.

BS Twyla "is not familiar with the show." It's OK to like something that's just fun!!!

Right, Twyla...we believe THAT.

@CiCi....is your life really that empty? I would suggest a book if only you could read.....

I don't understand "30 Rock", why is it still on the air?

Sean - let me spell it out. People like to watch real people work towards a skill that isn't normally their strong suit. People can relate. Altho, Nicole S. is a damn good dancer. Sean, pull yourself away from porn and watch - you might like it.

I love all the spam.

@Alex...I don't know why you can't figure out 30 Rock. It's a brilliant, satirical show that does not insult its viewers. It also requires you to pay attention. Obviously, DWTS requires no brains, and you need only the partial intelligence of hair to understand it.

But I'm insulting hair. Sorry about that.
