Sarah Polley, Adrien Brody's 'Splice' of artificial life comes true

When a sci-fi thriller about geneticists creating a new artificial life form by combining DNA is opening at the same time as reports of geneticists creating a new artificial life form by combining man-made DNA is actually in the news, it's time to shiver.

In the new sci-fi film "Splice," Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley play genetics geniuses who secretly create a life form that is a mixture of animal and human DNA.

The result ends up being a modern day "Frankenstein" story. Not to give anything away, but the film will make you question who's more human, the hybrid, Dren, played by the beautiful French actress Delphine Chaneac (who, in real lilfe, looks like a fresh-faced Angelina Jolie) or Polley and Brody's confused scientist creators.

The actors talked to The Dish Rag this week about the film, the surreal synchronicity between the movie and the artificial life headlines, the family dynamics that erupt and Delphine's astonishing layered performance.

The movie opens wide on June 4. Here's a tease.
