'Project Runway's' Nick Verreos presents FIDM's 'Alice in Wonderland' red carpet challenge

"Project Runway's" Nick Verreos is taking a trip down the rabbit hole.

The designer is mentoring an "Alice in Wonderland"-themed Super Lab challenge for six Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) grads.

Their mission is to create red carpet-ready gowns inspired by six characters from Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland": Alice, the Red Queen, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

The gowns will be unveiled at the "Alice in Wonderland" Design Exhibition at the FIDM Museum & Galleries in Los Angeles, open to the public beginning Thursday, May 27.

Zap2it will get a sneak peek the night before at a private opening gala event, so check back for photos and video.

The exhibition -- which will also feature some of the film's costumes by Colleen Atwood -- is being held in conjunction with the release of "Alice" on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, June 1.
