Lin Yu-Chun a.k.a. Taiwanese Whitney signs major-label record contract!

lin2.jpg24-year-old Lin Yu-Chun has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame since performing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" on "Super Star Avenue," the Taiwanese "American Idol." The video blew up online, going viral so fast that Chun was called the next Susan Boyle.

Now Lin, who says he sings to escape the pain of fat jokes, has the paperwork -- and the cash -- to back up that claim. He has inked a major label deal with Sony Music to record an album of Chinese and English songs, set to be released in July, according to PopEater.

"I can't believe this is real," Lin says. His viral success has given him more confidence in the way he looks despite being teased as a child. "You don't have to be a good-looking man or woman to succeed. Just be yourself and try your best."

Whitney Houston had better watch out. Reviews of her British tour have not been favorable... could Lin be set to take her place?

Well, they have the same songwriters, at least for English tunes (only thing that matters on the world stage since nobody outside of China listens to mainstream Chinese garbage).
