Justin Bieber needs a better tour tutor -- 'German? I don't know what that means'

Oh, Justin Bieber. We can't decide if this is merely due to your youth or if you might actually fall into the pretty-but-dumb category.

Does Biebs really not know what the interviewer meant by "'Bieber' is German for basketball, true or false?" The confused way Bieber says "German?" and "I don't know what that means" is bad enough, but then he says, "We don't say that in America."

What don't we say in America? "German?" Or does he mean we don't ask true-or-false questions? Also, what's this "we" stuff, Canadian? And just for the record, "Bieber" does not mean basketball in German. It is the name of a village in Hesse, Germany. "Biber" means "beaver," but that is not the correct spelling of his last name. We're a full service blog here at the Dish Rag.

Well what the hell did he mean by " Is German for basketball? True of false."

It's been taken out of context. The question was "Bieber is German for basketball, true or false?"
I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box and even I understand it's the complete question that is confusing him. Watch the video again and you should gauge Justin never states he doesn't know what German means, it's obvious the concept of the question is confusing him. He says "Is German for....I don't know what that means". HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO CONCETUALIZE "BIEBER IS GERMAN FOR BASKETBALL". Simple as that. I hope you don't feel too silly being whipped up in media hype.

The interviewing didn't deliver it right. I can see how the kid could have interpreted hear his name as just an attention getter, "bieber". so given that, all he heard was, "german for basketball, true or false?". what does that mean??? see his confusion?

very simple; can be understood as either 1; is bieber the german language word for basketball? or 2; using "german" as a substitute for a phrase like "crazy about", ie.are you, bieber, wild about basketball?
that is obviously how the over-rated little fella heard the question.

c'mon, seriously? he misunderstood what he was asking him. as if anyone can not know what "German" means, he can COUNT in German for gods sake, and has told people before what his name means in German. ( it means "beaver" )
also, "America" does not equal "USA". he is refering to "NORTH AMERICA" because he thought what the interviewer was saying was some kind of slang. stop trashing a little boy for no reason, good god, does sociotey have nothing better to do? if your so worried about kids not being smart enough, perhaps instead of complaing about how stupid this one young person is when you dont even know him, you could complain about the faults in the education system, which are hurting young people in the first place, hmm?

Simple case of misunderstanding the question, with the question being asked wrong, all the presenter needed to say was is Beiber the german name for basketball. Amercians use words for slang all the time, and the poor guy thought they were using his name as a slang word. I don't even like him but give him a break.

I cannot believe it cant people go a day without talking about Justin Bieber. He could not understand what the interviewer said cause of an accident. Lay of the kid he is only 16 were you perfect than

Yeah, I couldn't understand it at first either. I know damn well what 'German' means, but I originally heard the question as "Is German for basketball?".

The interviewer is the one who screwed up, not Justin. When Justin asks for clarification, the guy should have repeated the ENTIRE question, not just the word "German" over and over. What Justin needed was to hear the entire sentence, since THAT was what he was saying he didn't understand. Justin went on to explain that "we don't say that in America" because he thought that the guy was using an ethnic slur against Jews. Justin went on to explain that afterwards! Give the kid a break, everybody.
