Erica Blasberg: Golfer's death still a mystery
The sudden death of Erica Blasberg, a promising young pro golfer, is still rocking the golf community. The body of the 25-year-old was found Sunday (May 9) in her Nevada home, and even though some speculate that it might be a suicide, authorities are still investigating, reports People.
Back in college, Blasberg's golf teammates and coach nicknamed her "Skip" because of her bright personality but also because of one incident in particular.
"The very first day of workouts she rolls in there at 6 a.m. and she had her bow in her hair and her makeup on," says her college coach Greg Allen. "Skip was all done up. The strength coach had everyone skip to warm up and let loose and she didn't know how to skip. We knew right away what her nickname would be."
Blasberg had turned pro in June 2004 but she always seemed to fall short of what people expected her to do.
Although her career has been hitting a rough patch, her youth, her potential and her dedication to hard work appeared to be all she needed to get out of her slump. When she was found dead, her bags were already packed for a trip to Alabama so she could qualify for a tournament.
As Zap2it reported earlier, Blasberg's father Mel says that "something is very, very strange" about her death. So far, there are no details explaining this statement.
Toxicology results won't return for another six to eight weeks.
