Did Matt Lauer's affair get him dumped by wife Annette Roque?

According to the National Enquirer -- yes. Sources claim "Today" host Matt Lauer's affair led to his 11-year marriage to model Annette Roque ending and that he is in the market for his own apartment in New York City.

"I heard he and Annette are breaking up. I was not shocked to hear that. But it's very sad," Lauer's ex-wife Nancy Alspaugh tells the magazine. Roque and Lauer did file for divorce back in 2006 but later reconciled and have three children together -- Jack, 8, and Romy, 6 and Thijs (pronounced "Tice"), 2.


Now we realize that the National Enquirer is a tabloid but in recent years it has broken some major news stories -- it forced Sarah Palin to announce her daughter Bristol's pregnancy when it leaked the magazine was going to break that story, it was reporting Michael Jackson's health problems months before he died, it was the first to allege Tiger Woods was cheating after the famed Thanksgiving 2009 car accident and the magazine broke John Edwards' affair with Rielle Hunter a year before Edwards confessed to the affair, which earned the outlet a Pulitzer nomination in 2010.

In a new twist, the it now may be that Lauer was getting his cheat on while covering the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver for NBC.

The latest development is that Hollyscoop is claiming Lauer's mistress is Alexis Houston, half-sister to diva Whitney Houston, but she denies it.

Finally, Matt and Annette have fired back, saying the entire scandal is "a work of fiction."
