Dennis Hopper dies at 74

dennis-hopper-wireimage.jpgActor Dennis Hopper has finally succumbed to his battle with prostate cancer at the age 74. According to KTLA, the actor died at his Venice, CA home early Saturday morning, May 29. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Hopper is best known for writing, directing and starring in "Easy Rider" and for his roles in "Blue Velvet" and "Hoosiers." He received Oscar nominations for Best Screenplay for "Easy Rider" and Best Supporting Actor for "Hoosiers."

His most recent work was the role of a film producer for the 2010 movie "The Last Film Festival," which he filmed shortly before his illness was announced in 2009. Hopper's last public appearance was when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in March, where friend Viggo Mortensen gave a moving speech about Hopper.

Making his battle with cancer even more complicated was the recent struggles he was having with his estranged wife Victoria Duffy in their bitter divorce battle. The court eventually ruled in Duffy's favor.

Hopper is survived by ex-wives Brooke Hayward, Michelle Phillips, Daria Halprin, Katherine LaNasa and estranged wife Victoria Duffy, daughters Marin, 47, Ruthanna, 35, and Galen, 7, son Henry, 19, and granddaughters Violet and Ella.

RIP, Dennis Hopper.

Sad news as we loose a talented actor, my deepest sorrow for his family and friends. RIP

It is a sad day when Dennis Hopper dies. This is a guy that has been in films with quite a few big names before he was a big name. Just to name a few James Dean, Natalie Wood, John Wayne, Dean Martin and Rock Hudson. He will be missed.

It's a very sad day Man. Though I never had the chance to work with Dennis I was fortunate enough to meet him, and the short time we had together was an Easy Trip into the Blue Man.
He was a very talented gentleman and all the crazy Dennis Hopper stories will never take that away from him Man.
This talented Icon will always live inside me Man.
Peace & Love Man.

I AM GLAD HIS BATTLE WITH HIS EX WORKED OUT BEFORE THIS HE LIVED HIS LIFE AND I DONT THINK HE MISSED MUCH

NOOO!! This isn't true!! Not fair!!

Rest in Peace, old friend, you entertained us so much and contributed so much to your industry.

A true legend, and a true tragedy

Farewell to a phenomenally talented gentleman. My prayers are with his family today.

As the old saying goes "They all go in threes" we had Art Linkletter, Gary Coleman, and Dennis Hopper pass away. All three of these entertainers had there ups and downs in their careers. All three of them will be missed. RIP Art, Gary and Dennis :(

RIP
King Koopa

An icon, a giant, a genius. I enjoyed his art a great deal, and my heart goes out to his family, especially his daughter, Galen.
