Chely Wright is the mystery celeb who's coming out, say our sources

A couple weeks ago, The Dish Rag was the first to report that a celebrity would be following in Ricky Martin's footsteps and coming out of the closet on May 5. Next, we were the first to report that the person in question is a female music artist.The speculation has picked up in the past few days, with bloggers running down lists of female country artists, cross-checking them with the coming week's talk-show schedules and throwing out the likes of Terri Clark and Shelby Lynne as possible suspects.
The focus now, though, is on singer Chely Wright, who's best known for her songs "Shut Up and Drive" and "Single White Female." She has a memoir, "Like Me," and a new album, "Lifted Off the Ground," due in stores this week.
She's also now the consensus choice for the person attached to this little mystery, with everyone from Gawker to TMZ to the New York Daily News outing her and potentially wrecking what was supposed to be People Magazine's exclusive.
Well, we'll all know soon enough on Wednesday (May 5) when the announcement and PR blitz is expected to begin. And we're not big gamblers, but The Dish Rag thinks if you are a betting type put your money on Chely.

So what? Never heard of her and think it's foolish for anyone to announce there is "going to be an announcement" - and then not expect people to speculate and dig it up. Waste of time and space.
I agree. Though I have heard some of her music previously, I can't believe this is the "high profile" celeb stepping out on 5/5/10. I thought the Zachary Quinto theory made a lot more sense. But true to form, Ms. Wright is hawking a book AND a new album...
Oh, wait I think I remember her in...no, that wasn't her.
Or maybe it was...nope, different person.
So we're supposed to care about his why exactly? I'd rather read about Demi Moore's toe jam than somebody unknown deciding to tell the world she's gay. Then again, in this day and age, being gay is a career boost for nobodys, so maybe she'll win a Grammy now, who knows? Or maybe she'll headline Glee.
