Bret Michaels' ex Kristi Gibson helped save his life

There's a lot to be said about staying on good terms with your ex. It could just save your life.

Such is the case for Bret Michaels, who called his ex Kristi Gibson -- who is also the mother of his two daughters, Raine Elizabeth and Jorja Blue -- to take him to the hospital once he realized that his mind had gone blank, he couldn't move his head at all and that something was seriously wrong.

"I know I was slurring my words, and I was like, 'OK, this isn't a headache. There's something really bad happening,'" Bret tells People in his first interview since his brain hemorrhage, which will be published on Friday (May 7).

The 47-year-old rocker also says that the hemorrhage "sounded like a handgun, like it literally popped."

Wow. Wonder if any of those "Rock of Love" gals would have answered his call.
