7-year-old 'Single Ladies' draw criticism for viral video

A viral video of a young dance troupe performing Beyonce's "Single Ladies" at a contest in Pomona, CA has stirred up controversy in the media. The girls in Precision Dance range from seven to nine years old and appear dressed in hot pants, bra-style tops, and thigh-high stockings while dancing to the song.

There's no denying the girls' talent, but perhaps these particular costumes and gyrating dance moves would be better suited to someone at least old enough to get her learner's permit.

"There has been a great deal of controversy regarding this performance, and it has been taken out of context. It is a little sensitive now, to say the least," a rep for the dance competition tells PopEater.

What do you think, Zap2it readers? An innocent performance by some talented kids, or a glaring example of over-sexing the youth of America?

I think they're adorable. They worked hard, and by they time they're ready for college, being in the news like they are now, they're going to have scholarships coming from everywhere. The only sick part of the video, is the perverts watching. The perverts are going to look at little girls anyways, its not like they're saying hey old men, come get me. No its just a dance. and these girls have talent

I think they're amateur sluts working hard to become professional ******

the dance routine is good. i think the costumes are a little too sexy for girls under the age of ten. but dance moves aren't too sexy.

i like this, its good masterbation material.

very disturbing

The girls are talented but those moves are to provocative for them and those outfits are just in poor taste. Those parents should have been more concerned with what theyre teaching their daughters than how much people will like the act.

If you ever wondered why whole nations were slaughtered in the OT this video my shine some light on it. There were cultures who had no sexual boundaries and everyone was slaughtered, including animals, to prevent the spread of STDs. Kinsey tried to make pedophilia and pederasty sound "normal" before the end of his career. These people are waving the same banner. Red and black, worn together, have symbolic meaning.

Teaching girls to be ho's from a young age, what r these ppl thinking? Someone (parents anyone?) should have got a grip and shut this dance down. You know the pervy pedo's will be watching. I feel sad for these young girls.

I see nothing wrong with this video, the dance or the costumes. It's people with dirty minds who have the problem. What I see is some good dancing, talented individuals.

To the person here who said red and black together is symbolic... symbolic of what?? I doubt they had some hidden meaning or intention when choosing the colors. Red and black just look good together, I'm sure that's all they thought.

Nothing unusual about this dance, girls around that age are doing similar routines all the time all over the place. So why is this one getting attention?

Perhaps this is the norm for California, and I love dance, but this is WAY too sexual of moves AND outfits for that age range. In this day and age, teachers AND parents are going for shock value, but then they wonder why men kidnap and rape little girls. These people need to have some common sense, but then that's sorely lacking in this day and age.
