Victoria's Secret's 'Bombshell' lingerie ad. Is that really the word you want?

BOMBSHELL-VS.jpgCall us crazy, but for Victoria's Secret to use the phrase 'bombshell' in a summer lingerie internet promo for zebra-stripe undies seems a bit misguided.

The media has been deluged by the name Michelle "Bombshell" McGee in the past month.

And after Jesse James and Sandra Bullock's marriage was destroyed by his sleazy affair with the tattooed stripper, the word "bombshell" has -- like it or not -- become synonymous with lurid strip clubs, tattoos, husband-stealing white supremacist, Nazi lovers.

Frankly, calling any woman a "bombshell" at this point in time sounds like an insult to her moral character.

So didn't someone in the ad copy department think to flag this word and question the consumer appeal? We predict heads may roll over this one.

Look, sorry to be a pig, but I have to admin I'm not really looking at the ad copy. 8-)

If you are 16-24, this ad might make sense, the term "bombshell" would be almost relatable. Vickie's forgot the 35-55 year old customers along time ago. Its unfortunate, and Vickie's is attempting to cater to us again, but failing miserably and resorting back to their roots, teeny boppers and twenty somethings. There is a big niche for this, even though they dont really carry many sizes that fit our average demographic!
