'Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder's 'coolest thing ever'

ian-somerhalder-gq.jpgWhen one thinks "Ian Somerhalder," the next thing that comes to mind is not usually "brightly colored dress shirts." Yet, GQ got the "Vampire Diaries" star to model for a photo spread showing off how a new shirt this year can jazz up last year's suit.

While they were at it, they asked the actor about the two roles he's most associated with, the doomed Boone on "Lost" and the quintessential bad boy Damon on "Vampire Diaries."

"The decibel level at which a 13-year-old can explain how much she loves you -- it's the coolest thing ever," the 31-year-old actor says of his largely teen fanbase.

As for "Lost," Ian will be returning one more time before the show comes to an end for good.

"I was in wine country, man, with a beautiful girl," Ian  says of when he got the call that the would be the first Flight 815 survivor to die on "Lost."
"I said to J.J. [Abrams], 'Your timing is impeccable. If I'd been at Denny's I would have started crying.'"

Instead, Ian "downed a couple of bottles of Pinot and I was set."
