'Twilight' Robert Pattinson as Kurt Cobain could be Nirvana for fans [UPDATED]

"Twilight" fans might be able to see Robert Pattinson pick up his guitar for the big screen.

The star has reportedly been in talks to play the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, says the UK's Sun. The British paper claims he's has been in contact with Courtney Love, Cobain's widow, who is lobbying for R-Patz to play her former husband, and Scarlett Johansson to portray her.

Cobain, who brought grunge to the forefront and had hits with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are," shot and killed himself in 1994.

So far, it's not certain if there's any truth to this casting claim. Supposedly, "Fight Club" director David Fincher is behind the biopic, called "All Apologies."

[UPDATE] : According to "Access Hollywood," R-Patz won't be donning flannel to play Cobain, even though a biopic is in the works. Instead, his post-"Eclipse" films will include "Bel Ami," which he's shooting in Hungary, and "Water for Elephants," which has plenty of its own angst.

Pattinson fans certainly seem ready to see him in anything, and having him play a long-haired rocker full of angst wouldn't be a stretch. At 23, he's at least similar in age to Cobain at the height of the musician's career.

R-Patz also has his own musical skills and even had a song on the "Twilight" soundtrack.

Fellow "Twilight" star (and more?) Kristen Stewart has already starred in her own musical biopic, "The Runaways," as Joan Jett.

You can see them both make beautiful music together (figuratively) in "Eclipse," in theaters on June 30.
