Matt Stone and
Trey Parker, the always irreverent
"South Park" creators, have brilliantly skewered Hollywood celebs and politicians for years. But they may have gone too far. They've gotten death "warnings" (we'd call it threats) about their 200th episode, which featured the Prophet
Muhammad in a bear suit and
Buddha snorting cocaine.
The website of a radical group called Revolution Muslim warned that the pair would "probably wind up like
Theo van Gogh" if the show aired. Van Gogh was a controversial filmmaker who was murdered in Amsterdam in 2004 after making a film that sharply criticized the status of women in Islam.
I think it is interesting that there was a lack of outrage against Matt and Trey in 2001 when they actually depicted Muhammad as a fire wielding super best friend. Where was the outrage? ******* hypocrites

Ah, muslims, the mob of the religious world. Perhaps they'd get more respect if they had a new answer other than violence. But if you do make a threat, don't pfoot around it, those cowards. Where's their conviction? Until they shape up show as much muhammy as you want!
and you're absolutely right, Purps
censoring things for one particular religion just proves we are afraid of them. screw 'em! if they can show Buddha snorting lines of cocaine, why the F*CK can't you depict Muhammad on TV?? F*CKING RETARDED! SHOW MUHAMMAD; GROW SOME BALLS!
If radical Muslims consider Trey Parker and Matt Stone a serious threat to their religion then they don't think very highly of their religion.
my fellow americans are often juvenile in how they process some things...just because you can do/say somethings, doesn't mean that it's wise to do so. as an african-american, i know that i could visit anywhere in the U.S....really?? am i that delusional to think that all my fellow americans will greet me well? hell know!...so i cut my losses. Trey and Matt's problem is that they lack simple examination of the dark realities of the world. there's a universe of comedic materials to choose. why choose material that WILL cause some crazies to want to end your life...plain DUMB!
this isn't about black history...it's about common sense. spinner, i agree both in spirit and letter with you and the others that have written on this subject...now does this mean that you or they will take the chance to say something that might bring potential violence to your doorstep? especially for the sake of comedy. if one chooses to go down that road, it's wise to make sure that it's for a meaningful cause (like the civil rights movement). it's naive to make fun of islam, and be surprised when some violent radicals are incited. we all know what the truth is about personal freedoms, but this does not mean that i should give up good judgement.
Hey james, Americans stand up for what they believe in without cowardice. We know that is our right. Maybe you should refresh your black history, friend. You think the protesters back then knew they would be hosed, beaten, and bit? Hell yes! But those choices are how people change corrupt mentalities.
