Sharon Osbourne turned down British show, focusing on health

Sharon Osbourne has learned her lesson: You've got nothing without your health.

The reality show star has been hit hard with illness -- her own and fellow "Celebrity Apprentice" star Bret Michaels' recent health problems.

"I got swine flu when I was doing 'Celebrity Apprentice' and then I got bronchitis," she said at a Monday press event for NBC. "[He's] the nicest guy in the world and you start thinking of your own mortality. You start thinking, 'Oh my god.' It makes you appreciate how lucky you are to be alive.

"As far as slowing me down, I just turned down being a judge on a new show in England. I felt like I was doing too much, so I am slowing down."


The show, which Osbourne couldn't name, is "a talent show like the new 'Glee' but [they] do it in the UK and find singers and dancers who've been in choirs."

She still has a few irons in the fire though.

"I'm doing a project with Kelly that I'm doing after this and then I'm taking the rest of the year off," she shared.

As for the biopic being made about husband Ozzy Osbourne, it looks like production is imminent.

"There's about to be a big announcement," she said. "It's been picked up and it's going into production. We're going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. [There's no cast] yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we're all starting."

She added that "somebody new" would be playing Ozzy, and that dream casting for herself would be "the girl from 'An Education,' the English girl Carey Mulligan."

Wouldn't it make sense for daughter Kelly to play the younger version of Sharon in the film?

"To play me?," she asked with a laugh. "She is a Mini Me, so yeah, she would be good."
