'Sex and the City' stars unite for cancer benefit
The stars of "Sex and the City 2" will be in Brooklyn this weekend -- not to promote the movie, but to help one of their colleagues fight a battle against cancer.
As Sarah Jessica Parker explains in the video above, they're coming together to help out "Minty Python" -- the nickname for the 9-month-old daughter of Mei Lai Hippisley-Coxe, a wardrobe supervisor on the HBO series and Parker's costumer on the first "SATC" film and "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" Minty was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer shortly after being born and has been undergoing aggressive treatment ever since.
Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Chris Noth will be on hand Saturday (May 1) for a benefit that will help raise money for Minty's care, and they've also agreed to be the prizes in a lottery for those who attend the event (tickets are $500 each). Parker is donating tickets to the "SATC2" premiere in New York and jewelry from her "treasure chest," while Nixon and Davis will have dinner and lunch with winners. Cattrall is donating a Matthew Williamson dress she wears in the movie, and Noth is giving the suit he wore to the "Sex and the City" premiere.
There's also an in-person raffle for attendees and an online raffle for those who won't be able to make it.
